Dilek is one of the hardest working and highly trained artist in the area.
Dilek is invited to perform for Reverence, Tribute to Jamila Salimpour, show in Berkeley at Julia Morgan Theater, September 7, and also at the Bal Anat Show in Solano Stroll with Suhaila Dance Company on September 8, 2013.
Affectionately known as "Turkish Delight", is a multi-award winning Middle Eastern dance artist who hails from Turkey. Born and raised in the magical city of Istanbul, Dilek grew up listening and dancing to Middle Eastern music while attending family parties and watching her favorite Turkish dancers in clubs and on TV. She moved to the United States in 1995 to pursue her graduate studies and has lived in beautiful San Diego ever since.
DANCE AWARDS:
Dilek's expertise as a Middle Eastern dance performer has garnered her numerous awards from various belly dance competitions throughout the United States. Some of her most recent and prestigious awards include her first place championships from 2008 through 2010 in the Universal, Egyptian and Taksim categories at the acclaimed Belly Dancer of the Universe competition in Los Angeles. Dilek was also crowned first place champion at the NATCMED Hawaii competition in which the legendary Mahmoud Reda of Egypt was a lead judge.
Dilek is also a featured performer in Hollywood Music Center NEW DVD Production, The Spirit of Bellydance.

DANCE INSTRUCTOR:
Dilek has provided quality instruction in Middle Eastern dance at numerous locations throughout San Diego. She recently opened her own private home studio where she offers beginning and intermediate level technique classes as well as improvisational classes in all facets of Middle Eastern dance. Dilek is trained in both Suhaila and Jamila Salimpour’s prestigious dance and training format. She achieved Level 3 in Suhaila Salimpour format, and Level 2 in Jamila Salimpour format. She was invited by Suhaila herself to participate as a teaching assistant in the upcoming Jamila Salimpour Level 1 workshop taking place in San Francisco. Dilek has also been a featured instructor and performer at several Middle Eastern dance workshops and festivals in Southern California, Mexico and Taiwan.
ORGANIZATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Dilek's desire to give back to the community has prompted her to maintain a strong involvement with the San Diego Turkish community for the last 5 years. During this time, she has worked as Vice President for the House of Turkey, and was directly involved in the Turkish House project in which she organized events for fundraising, hosted meetings and worked on the House of Pacific Relations policy and standing rules. Currently she is the Social Chair for ATASC-SD, the largest American Turkish Organization in San Diego, under the umbrella of ATASC Washington. Dilek is also co-founder and co-director of the Arabina Dance Company which provides professionally choreographed belly dance shows at Zorba's Greek Restaurant every weekend as well as at numerous public and private functions throughout San Diego.
EDUCATION/PROFESSION:
In addition to her successful dance career, Dilek holds a B.A., an M.B.A. and Masters degree in Computer Science, also in Ayurveda. Her full time occupation as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer has allowed her to work with some of the largest corporations in the industry including Intuit, Fair Isaac, Mitchell International, Cisco Systems and DivX.
Currently working remotely in the same field.
She is currently pursuing her PhD in Physiology in Maharishi International University, where she graduated with her Master's of Science, Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine. She is a Lead Teacher's Assistant in the same program as well.
