TESTIMONIALS ABOUT MY CLASSES:

Dilek is an incredible, gifted teacher that inspires her students not only to dance well, but to dance with passion and joy.  I have taken classes with Dilek for over a year and I never thought I would have progressed as far as I have; to the point of actually performing!

She gives each student personal attention and quickly identifies their strengths and weaknesses in order to properly develop their technique.  She is knowledgeable in exercise physiology and yoga and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle.  Taking bellydancing classes with Dilek has enriched my life in so many ways.  I enjoy the accomplishment, dicipline, and beauty I have developed through this experience.

Thanks Dilek!” From my student Ginger, she is also in my performance student group

Dilek is by far the best belly dancing teacher ever. I have taken many classes from different teachers and I definetly recommend her classes whether if it's only basic or intermediate. The first time I took her class I really liked how she taught each and every move. She breaks it down and focuses on any student who is struggling. I love how she begins and repeats the basics and continue's to teach the class something different afterwards.

I've taken her beginning class last year and I've had so much fun taking her classes and I've gotten to know that she has such a great personality. Dilek is never in a bad mood, and it seems like she always look forward to teaching each one of her classes. As soon as she was going to transfer to another studio to teach, I switched right away even though it was father than where I lived! She is extremely talented, and very very very entertaining as well when she performs. I admire how she's an engineer and at the same time, she can manage the time to teach and perform belly dancing without failing to be a good teacher. She encourages each one of us to keep dancing and to become better at it. I always look forward to attending her classes and each class I had was worth it! But not only is she beautiful, talented, and a great teacher, Dilek has a wonderful personality outside of class. It's a privilege to get to know Dilek, and for her to be anyone's middle-eastern dance teacher.” From my student, Annamarie Flores, she is one of my performer students.

I  believe that the dancer should be strong physically, technically and spiritually.

Orientale dance requires technique and feelings come from the heart.

Your music knowledge is important to be able to integrate your dance to be one with the music you are dancing to.

ABOUT TURKISH STYLE in GENERAL:

Turkish style is very playful, joyful, earthy, with a lot of complex hip moves, strong pelvic isolations, beautiful sensuous floor work, expressive hand and arm moves. It is not widely taught and performed. Turkish style could have very similar to what is called "Egyptian" style at certain times, but Turkish style has many variety of quick foot steps, folkloric earthy, strong accents, also music is very different, rhythms are more complex for beginner dancers. Karsilama, ciftetelli, Romani "Sulukule cingene usulu" means "Gypsy style from Sulukule" are some of the names you come across in Turkish Oriyantal (in Turkish). Zills are essential part of the dancing, tambourine can be used (mostly played by men in the gypsy bands) during dancing as well.
Turkish Style Dance classes starting soon. I will accept only those students that are interested in only Turkish style. These classes will focus on 9/8, 6/8 movements, music knowledge, gypsy gestures, costume knowledge, zills, tambourine. I am currently taking enrollment. If you are interested in please let me know, this way I can open another class just for Turkish style.
