TESTIMONIALS ABOUT MY CLASSES:

Dilek is an incredible, gifted teacher that inspires her students not only to dance well, but to dance with passion and joy.  I have taken classes with Dilek for over a year and I never thought I would have progressed as far as I have; to the point of actually performing!

She gives each student personal attention and quickly identifies their strengths and weaknesses in order to properly develop their technique.  She is knowledgeable in exercise physiology and yoga and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle.  Taking bellydancing classes with Dilek has enriched my life in so many ways.  I enjoy the accomplishment, dicipline, and beauty I have developed through this experience.

Thanks Dilek!” From my student Ginger, she is also in my performance student group

Dilek is by far the best belly dancing teacher ever. I have taken many classes from different teachers and I definetly recommend her classes whether if it's only basic or intermediate. The first time I took her class I really liked how she taught each and every move. She breaks it down and focuses on any student who is struggling. I love how she begins and repeats the basics and continue's to teach the class something different afterwards.

I've taken her beginning class last year and I've had so much fun taking her classes and I've gotten to know that she has such a great personality. Dilek is never in a bad mood, and it seems like she always look forward to teaching each one of her classes. As soon as she was going to transfer to another studio to teach, I switched right away even though it was father than where I lived! She is extremely talented, and very very very entertaining as well when she performs. I admire how she's an engineer and at the same time, she can manage the time to teach and perform belly dancing without failing to be a good teacher. She encourages each one of us to keep dancing and to become better at it. I always look forward to attending her classes and each class I had was worth it! But not only is she beautiful, talented, and a great teacher, Dilek has a wonderful personality outside of class. It's a privilege to get to know Dilek, and for her to be anyone's middle-eastern dance teacher.” From my student, Annamarie Flores, she is one of my performer students.

I  believe that the dancer should be strong physically, technically and spiritually.

Orientale dance requires technique and feelings come from the heart.

Your music knowledge is important to be able to integrate your dance to be one with the music you are dancing to.

Learn Turkish/Arabic Orientale from the trained Turkish Dancer. My basic/beginner classes are based on Arabic Dance style in general. Once you learn the techniques of the moves, different combinations, I encourage everyone to get their own style by practicing to a specific music she likes in free style/improvisation. In the classes often I make individuals or groups to perform very short improvised class.

Technique is more important than what kind of style you develop for the beginning. Your technique is very BASIC OF EVERYTHING as a new student, if you want to be a strong, talented dancer in Orientale dance. Taking ballet and jazz also will provide you extra dance training to add variety to your Orientale Dance training.

Dilek teaches how to use right muscles to do belly dance moves. She teaches how to protect you from common belly dance injuries. Classes are high demanding physically. I pay extra attention to my students’ well beings; dancer should be physically fit and strong. I have many styles of strengthening warm-up and dance moves that require developed core muscles.

You are in the right place if you want to work hard, see results, dance beautifully but strongly, and trim those unwanted fat. I highly recommend also doing yoga and paying extra attention to your nutrition. Call me for training, and nutrition if you like to hire me for your personal training needs.

We have a great communication among the students; the classes are usually small up to 12-15 people max. I give personal attention to everyone’s posture, the way to use muscles, how to learn the technique in basic format, how to develop core muscles. First few classes are usually the hardest ones, please be patient and consistent, you will see the results in couple weeks. It takes few months to feel really comfortable with the basic belly dance moves and how to put combinations together, I found the most difficult is coordination of hips and arms or hips and chest which we also call layering, I introduce basic layering in my beginning classes, but walking/dancing with basic layering takes some time.

DILEK has been under training by SUHAILA SALIMPOUR SCHOOL OF DANCE by Suhaila and Jamila Salimpour and their format. For more information about Suhaila and her technique, certification program and school visit http://www.therealsuhaila.com.

Beginning/Intermediate Class starts at 5pm. Continuing students from Basic/Beginning class is welcome. Both classes are $20, or $100 for 5 sessions package.

These classes will focus on improvised performing, choreographies, traveling combinations, speed of hip moves, layering, playing zills at the same time. Choreography is based on the basic belly dance moves that I teach in the class.

ABOUT TURKISH STYLE in GENERAL:

Turkish style is very playful, joyful, earthy, with a lot of complex hip moves, strong pelvic isolations, beautiful sensuous floor work, expressive hand and arm moves. It is not widely taught and performed. Turkish style could have very similar to what is called "Egyptian" style at certain times, but Turkish style has many variety of quick foot steps, folkloric earthy, strong accents, also music is very different, rhythms are more complex for beginner dancers. Karsilama, ciftetelli, Romani "Sulukule cingene usulu" means "Gypsy style from Sulukule" are some of the names you come across in Turkish Oriyantal (in Turkish). Zills are essential part of the dancing, tambourine can be used (mostly played by men in the gypsy bands) during dancing as well.

Turkish Style Dance classes starting soon. I will accept only those students that are interested in only Turkish style. These classes will focus on 9/8, 6/8 movements, music knowledge, gypsy gestures, costume knowledge, zills, tambourine. I am currently taking enrollment. If you are interested in please let me know, this way I can open another class just for Turkish style.
